Overview

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Abia State Chapter stands as a pillar of Igbo unity and cultural preservation in “God’s Own State.” As one of the five core Igbo states, Abia plays a crucial role in the socio-economic and political development of Igboland. Our chapter serves as the umbrella organization for all Igbo communities across Abia’s 17 LGAs, promoting our shared heritage while advocating for development.

Key Focus Areas

1. Cultural Renaissance

  • Annual Abia Igbo Day Celebration – The biggest cultural festival in the state
  • Omenala Ndigbo – Traditional marriage counseling and rites preservation
  • Igbo Language Revival Project in primary/secondary schools

2. Economic Empowerment

  • Aba Business Hub Initiative – Supporting Ariaria and other markets
  • Skill Acquisition Programs – Tailoring, shoemaking, tech training
  • Agricultural Development Schemes – Cooperatives for local farmers

3. Education & Youth Development

  • Ohanaeze Scholarship Scheme for indigent students
  • Career Counseling Programs in state schools
  • Annual Youth Summit on leadership and entrepreneurship

  • Peace Building Initiatives across communities
